Little White Chapel Christian Church is located at 1711 North Avon Street (corner of Avon and Jeffries Street) in Burbank, California. The original chapel, which faces Jeffries Street, was built in 1941. Numerous building additions through the decades have included a large main sanctuary, a two-story educational wing, and a social hall with kitchen.
Currently, three other congregations share our facilities. We host various 12-step meetings, Burbank Coordinating Council, National Association of Church Musicians, and other community organizations throughout the year.
2011 brought a change in ministers, as well as a celebration of 70 years of ministry to our local and global communities. This year (2012) began with our congregation adopting new bylaws which more accurately reflected our church life, and hosting a Disciples of Christ history and polity class. Several new members have chosen to share their gifts as chairpersons and members of the board. We are grateful for the blessing of new friends with new ideas.
Our previous minister, Rev. Ron Degges, became the President of Disciples Home Missions in December, 2008. After an extensive search and call process,
Rev. William Thomas, Jr., who began leading worship in March, was called to serve as our minister. On May 15, 2011, Bill entered into a covenant of mutual ministry with Little White Chapel during a formal installation worship service.
As a congregation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we celebrate open communion at Christ's table. We are an open and affirming congregation, welcoming all with open minds and open hearts. We invite you to join us as we continue our journey as a diverse community of seekers with a united mission of serving God in new ways!
